The World Flag was created to raise awareness and funding for non-profit organizations working in the areas of Education, World Health, Human Rights and the Environment. It serves as a unifying symbol to inspire positive global change while continuing to embrace and celebrate our cultural diversity.

The World Flag commitment to Sustainability!
The World Flag is committed to using local suppliers wherever possible to limit our eco footprint. Our posters, stickers and flashcards are all manufactured right here in our home town of Portland, Oregon. We are proud to be using Canvas Dreams Sustainable Web Hosting using 100% wind energy. The World Flag also supports wind energy directly and is committed to reducing paper waste in all of our offices.
Additionally products are manufactured almost exclusively in the USA except for District Thread and Anvil apparel. These are manufactured in India and Honduras respectively. We absolutely prefer using local manufacturing whenever possible and also choose to support jobs here for the US economy. For example, American Apparel is manufacturing in the Los Angeles area and is very conscious of employee health and safety. Operating in the US they must adhere to OSHA regulations and safety inspections of their facilities. Anvil Organics is striving to become a leader in sourcing organic materials as well as improving their labor conditions and support of their employees. This type of activity helps foster the types of working conditions that many countries may not already have in place as across the board regulation. Anvil also is working toward SA8000 certification in the factory used for manufacture of our organic Tees:
Social Accountability 8000 (SA8000) has been developed by Social Accountability International (SAI), known until recently as the Council on Economic Priorities Accreditation Agency. SAI is a non-profit affiliate of the Council on Economic Priorities (CEP). SA8000 is promoted as a voluntary, universal standard for companies interested in auditing and certifying labor practices in their facilities and those of their suppliers and vendors. It is designed for independent third party certification. SA8000 is based on the principles of international human rights norms as described in International Labor Organization conventions, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It measures the performance of companies in eight key areas: child labor, forced labor, health and safety, free association and collective bargaining, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours and compensation. Our flags are manufactured by Annin Flag Company here in the US. In 2005, Annin & Co. joined with other domestic flag manufacturing companies and became a founding member of the Flag Manufacturers Association of America (FMAA)www.fmaa-usa.com. This industry organization is dedicated to promoting the manufacture of US Flags in America. Starting in 2006, Annin began converting most of the sewing process in its factories to team-based unit production cells. This move away from traditional bundle piece-rate sewing has been progressive and recognized as better for the health of sewing manufacturing employees. The workers stand while sewing which is better for circulation and posture instead of the traditional sitting sewing position. Repetitive motion injuries are also reduced.
